My Biography

I was born in Monterey, California on January 29, 1977. Shortly after that we moved to Southern California. I grew up in the sunshine, and I would spend much of my early days paling around with Mom and my little friends at the beach. I remember being very little, 2 or 3 years old, and running errands with my Mom. Even then I loved shopping for clothes. We’d run to Ralph’s for groceries, and I’d get a Pizza Bagel for the way home! When I was young I tried a little bit of everything. I took ballet, tap, jazz dance, gymnastics, horseback riding, ice-skating, soccer, and Little League. Ballet was my favorite by far! I learned to dance around the same time I learned to walk, and I will always love dancing!!

In fifth grade my Dad had a job change, so we moved up to the Silicon Valley area. At first I was devastated to leave my friends and my home. I cried and pouted all the way to my first day at the new school. It was a “rain day”, so we played a bunch of games. The other kids were so nice to me, including me in everything, and asking lots of questions. I was instantly in love with the people there! I’m still amazed at how genuinely sweet everyone in Northern California is! It’s my favorite place in the world!

In junior high I focused a lot on grades, and I was on the Honor Roll all through high school. I had a wonderful time growing up and discovering the ways of the world. My friends and I would get into so much trouble, sneaking out late at night to meet up with other people. Sometimes we’d meet boys and play spin the bottle, other times we’d tee-pee houses, but mostly we’d just giggle and talk! Luckily, the area was (and still is) super safe, so we were able to have the run of the town without really jeopardizing our safety. I had my first boyfriend in tenth grade, and I learned about puppy love. I was involved in several activities at school, including cheerleading and the dance team. Science and English were my favorite classes. I've always found the sciences, especially Biology and Physics, fascinating! The later years of high school were spent having fun and worrying about college.

I was so sure of everything… Until I got to college! I hopped around from UCSB, to LMU, and from there to El Camino. If you recognize me it’s probably because I went to your school! I also changed majors like they were going out of style. I went from Undecided, Art History, Dance, to Biology, and finally I decided on Nursing. It was so hard for me to have all those choices, especially when I have so many varied interests! At least I know I tried everything, and I’m confident that I’ve made the right decision. I truly feel passionate about nursing. Nurses serve as advocates and educators for patients, families of patients, and communities, and I am excited to be in a career that offers so much interaction with all types of people. I’m graduating this December, then after passing the NCLEX I hope to land a job in Labor & Delivery. If not that, I’ll go where I’m needed ~ Oncology, Geriatrics, or Telemetry. Eventually I’d like to go back and get my Masters, so I can be a Nurse Practitioner.

When I’m not busy studying I like to go out with my friends and explore L.A. This town has so much to offer in terms of restaurants, bars, and parties. We have a great time! Once when I was getting a costume at Trashy Lingerie for a huge Halloween bash, the owner asked if I’d like to model on their website. I was honored, and I had so much fun doing the shoot. I decided to start a website, and model to make extra money. It is so glamorous and fun! The hair and makeup people make you feel like a star! In the past year I’ve gotten a chance to work a lot, and I recently appeared in Playboy’s College Girls and Girls of Summer. School is my first priority, so I only schedule shoots around my classes. I’m fairly new at doing a website, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for stopping by to see me!

Rachel
